2002 Spring Break on Hunting Island

Here we were again for our third annual Spring Break trip to Hunting Island State Park in South Carolina. After another long winter in the Northeast, we were ready for 7 blissful days of warm sea breezes camping under the palmetto trees at this beautiful state park.

Besides the beautiful white sand beaches, the island has miles of wonderful bike trails through forests and along salt marshes and lagoons. You can even ride on the hard sand beach. Although there is no commercialization of any sort (the whole island is a state park), there are plenty of things to do and places to explore, like the historic Hunting Island Lighthouse, the Nature Center, and the Fishing Pier.
